Matt Weigand is a freelance photographer living in Spokane, Washington.

He searches his environment for moments, evoked by memories and emotions. With no formal training, Matt began exploring the field of photography in 2008.

His resume and portfolio include work from the Digital Media Designer and Photographer at Kaspien, Video Editor and Animator at Bend & Sway, Staff Photojournalist at the Pueblo Chieftain, photojournalism internships at The Ann Arbor News, The Beaver County Times, The Coeur d’Alene Press, and The Pacific Northwest Inlander. Additionally, Matt was a freelance photographer for Gonzaga University Marketing and Communications, and he was the Photography Editor for the Gonzaga Bulletin.

He shoots a variety of subjects ranging from news, sports, events, and personal passion projects.

Most recently, Matt won a third-place award for the 2017 Colorado Associated Press Editors and Reporters contest, and both a second and third place award for the 2018 Society of Professional Journalists' Top of the Rockies contest. Additionally, he has won multiple awards from the National Press Photographers Association during his collegiate career. 

Additionally, Matt has been invited three times to participate in Terrain, an annual juried multimedia art event in Spokane, WA. 

In his free time, Matt loves to explore nature in the Pacific Northwest, visit a favorite brewery, or binge The Office.
